The
Present |
With the recent participation of the international observers
we realized that the RR project could take on a new dimension. It could serve as an international model for any country that wishes to test the theoretical and practical skills of its rescuers "live" in the field. By allowing a more realistic and meaningful comparison of different techniques and equipment, as well as of different systems, as they would function in "real life", it lends itself nicely to use as a QI (Quality Improvement) tool. This information can be then used for developing or improving standards for organization, equipment, training and interventions in EMS.
The RR Project also provides a unique occasion for companies dealing with medical technology to demonstrate and test their new tools and devices under these "field" conditions. It also allows providers an opportunity to trial equipment. This information would be useful to all parties as they seek to enhance and promote their products and services.
Lastly it has provided a wonderful public relations and media opportunity. Numerous representatives of the press and media are invited and they have found this an exciting and newswortht event. The public loves it and it is a wonderful chance for them to see what we do. We have also used it as a means of public education in matters of health and safety. |

| The
Future |
Furthermore if developed and implemented at an international level, the RR project also provides for a means of international cooperation and communication among rescue and EMS workers, who might otherwise never meet! The increased dialogue and cooperation will lead to improved patient care within each participant's own country as well as across its borders!
The RR Project could develop into a joint excercise among teams from different countries. Their ability to work together, equipment compatibility as well as communications could be tested. A unique feature of every RR has been the inclusion of a disaster scenario, which could easily be modified so that groups, or teams from different countries would have to work together. Information from this exercise would be invaluable to the planning of international disaster response.
We hope that you will join us in this exciting work. Together we can make a difference! |
